Guyana slumps to heavy defeat in opening T20 Champions match

The Champions League Twenty20, Group B opener for Guyana did not go well.  Sent in to bat, Guyana offered little resistance against Kallis (the all-rounder who has done lots of damage against West Indians thoroughout his career) .  At the end of 20 overs, Guyana was all-out for a measley 103 runs with only Barnwell showing a resistant, but slow [by Twenty20 standards] 30 off 35 balls.  The hero in the Caribbean, Jonathan Foo, was caught for 1 off 6 deliveries.

So, given 104 to win, Dravid and Kallis opened the response for Bangalore.  They attacked whatever Guyana threw at them as if to say, “Welcome to the big leagues, boys.  You’ve got to put up bigger numbers than 103 if you expect to compete.

At the end of the game, Kallis was unbeaten on 43 off 32 deliveries and Bangalore won by 9 wickets.

Scores

Guyana:  103 all out off 20 overs

Bangalore: 106-1 from 12.2 overs

What this means

Guyana needs to win their 3 remaining matches against tougher competition or win 2 and win big (as big as they lost today) to have hopes of making the semi finals.  The top 2 from each group goes to the semis.
