Reggae Boyz, Soca Warriors: Mixed results in U17 Soccer

Jamaica's U-17 Football teamThe young Reggae Boyz of Jamaica, scored an impressive 2-1 win over Honduras in the quarter-finals of the U17 CONCACAF tournament, and World Cup qualifiers.

The win was significant, and I write this because this win not only puts them in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF but in the World Cup Under 17 championships coming up later this year in Mexico.  In fact, all 4 semi-finalists in the CONCACAF qualifies.

No time to celebrate as the young Boyz face a tough US team which beat them 2-1 and drew 0-0 in two friendlies before the tournament started.

Trinidad & Tobago Under-17 Soccer teamThe young Soca Warriors of Trinidad & Tobago fared differently as they went up against powerhouse Canada, who defeated them 2-0, ending their World Cup aspirations.

Congrats to both teams.  Let’s cheer on Jamaica in the CONCACAF tournament and cheer for all 4 qualifiers in the upcoming Under 17 World Cup.  The CONCACAF representatives to the U17 World Cup are:

Canada | Jamaica | Panama | United States
