IAAF World Championships of Track and Field 2013

IAAF World Championships 2013, Moscow The IAAF World Championships of Track and Field 2013 starts today in Moscow, Russia.  With failed A & B sample tests of Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown, the recent failed A sample tests of 5 Jamaican athletes, including Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson, and failed A sample test of powerhouse American Tyson Gay, this event is already marred by scandals. In addition, the absence of defending 100M champion, Jamaican Yohan Blake, takes away a bit of anticipation for the men’s sprints. However, stars like Usain Bolt and Kirani James have vowed to represent well and help make this Moscow event a memorable one.

August 10 – 18, 2013

The 9-day event starts today (August 10, 2013) and runs through August 18, 2013. The event starts with the marathons today, and even the heats of the Mens 100 meters. Check out the official IAAF World Championships site for event lineup by day and time and results.

In the end, the team delivered 9 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal, which included a clean sweep of the short sprints (100, 200, and 4×100 meters men and women).

Wolmers girl Shelly-Ann Fraser Price did not disappoint winning 100M, 200M, and helping to win 4x100M in a Championship record, despite the absence of Veronica Campbell-Brown. On the mens side, Usain Bolt again demonstrated his dominance, doing the same.
