Reggae Girlz move into round of 16, creating more history

Jamaica's Reggae GIrlz celebrate the draw vs Brazil, putting them in round of 16Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz have again shocked the soccer world by holding Brazil (BRA) to a 0-0, knocking them out, and moving into the round of 16 without conceding a goal from within the so-called “group of death” ( Group F )..

The GIrlz first held #5 France (FRA) to a 0-0 draw, then beat Panama (PAN) 1-0, culminating in this 0-0 draw with the other powerhouse, BRA. This moves the Girlz to 5 points, second in the group behind France (FRA) who has 7 points. and on to the elimination / knockout round.

I do agree with the following statements:

NO credit goes to Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) but we hope this will force them to improve or put others in who will advance football (soccer) in Jamaica on both the women and men side, starting at the “grassroots” level.

All credit to the Girlz, the Coaching staff, and Cedela Marley.

The fan base is going to double now and the support will come in!!!!

Next game is on Tuesday August 8 at 3AM JAM time.

    Very well said.

The “history” Jamaica’s “Girlz” have created includes:

    1. Second Caribbean team (after Cuba) in 1938 to make round of 16 in a football World Cup, male or female, youth or senior levels

    2. First clean sheet for any Jamaican team at the World Cup ( GK Rebecca “Becky” Spencer )

    3. One of 3 teams to enter 2023 knockout rounds without conceding a goal ( others are Japan and Switzerland )

    4. The Girlz drew with #5 France and #9 Brazil, while Girlz are ranked #51

    5. Least supported team in toughest group makes it to the round of 16
